St Johns Square, Seaham
Grit & Pearl are project managing a new public art project as part of the regeneration of St John’s Square, Seaham. The square will be surrounded by a new health centre, library, Durham County Council offices, creating a new heart for the town.
Four artists were shortlisted to develop designs for the new square;
Jo Fairfax
Kenny Hunter
Inges Idee
United Creatives
The shortlisted artists attended the site with representatives from Seaham Town Council, Durham County Council and Durham NHS Trust.
The meeting was an opportunity for artists, town planners and local representatives to discuss practical issues but also to imagine what this redeveloped space could become and how people might engage with it.
A further sight visit is planned for mid-August with design proposals due in late August 2010.
